Dog Friendly Cottages

It’s a dog’s life in Kent

Family holidays just aren’t that if someone gets left behind. That’s why when you’re planning your next cottage break you’ll want to make sure that all the family (furry members and all) can come along. For dog friendly cottages Kent – and particularly here at Harty – is doggy cottage holiday heaven; beautiful countryside and coastal landscapes, wide open spaces, dog friendly dining, a large exercise paddock* and more walks than you can shake a stick at…

NEW Dog Exercise Paddock*

Our NEW dog exercise paddock* is available for use by all our Mocketts Farm Cottages guests ONLY. Please book your time slot by clicking the button above.

Dog Friendly Cottages

Each of our five properties are ‘paw-fect’ dog friendly cottages. You’ll find them set in a quiet cluster around a fenced duck pond on the periphery of a working farm, with a large dog exercise paddock*, which should be pre-booked using the button above, where you can safely exercise your dog off lead. All cottages also boast fully fenced dog safe gardens. This is country life at its best.

Open Countryside

See the landscape surrounding the holiday cottages and you’ll understand why Kent is known as ‘the garden of England’. Our little corner certainly got Mother Nature’s attention, and more than our share of natural beauty! Miles of countryside, farmland and wild wetlands are perfect for exercising four legs, as well as two.

Local Area

Beautiful Beaches

Looking out across the Swale (the tidal channel and estuary that separates the Isle of Sheppey from the rest of Kent) there are also long, Blue Flag beaches and stretches of coastline, some of which that are near-deserted and make for wonderful walks or games of fetch. Walkies!

Is there anything better to a dog than ‘walkies’? Luckily on holiday in Harty there are plenty to be had. The Isle of Harty Trail is perhaps our favourite local amble. Just shy of six miles long, it’s a flat, circular route that is mostly traffic free. Spend some time on four-leg frolics in the rugged beauty of the Harty marshes, as well as the long, Blue Flag sand/shingle beach at Leysdown out of peak season.

Dog Friendly Restaurant

Just a short, pleasant stroll from the holiday cottages you’ll find our country restaurant, The Ferry House (which also forms part of the Isle of Harty Trail). Here enjoy dog friendly, 2AA Rosette dining overlooking the estuary. Dogs are very welcome here, so they can curl up by a cosy fire while you make the most of the local hospitality.

Dining

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, much of our produce is homegrown in our large kitchen garden, with beef from our family farm and game from the local Harty Estate. The perfect way to ‘taste the landscape’ of the cottages!

The Ferry House

Dogs are charged at £25 each. Please remember that the Mocketts Farm Cottages are on a working farm and neighbour a protected bird reserve, where dogs are not permitted. Read more on this and find our dog rules here.
